Prepared For Service

Series: Sermons By Tony Mauck

Here am I, Lord, send me - Isa 6

What prepared Isaiah for service?  5 things:

1. We need to get a glimpse of God's glory and power.  He saw God sitting on a throne. Maybe the reason we succumb to temptation, the reason we grow weary in His service, is we don't have a clear glimpse of God. Vision infuses passion.  It's all about Him - it's not about us.

2. We need to be overwhelmed by our personal sin and the sin of others. That was Isaiah's first response.  Consider: A. I am very much dependent. B. I am unworthy C. I am blessed that God cares so much for me D. He is Compassionate

3. We need to receive Gods forgiveness.  Every one of us is flawed. There are church's of the Lord that are flawed, we see that in the NT. The key is, are we striving to serve the Lord? Anywhere there are people there will be problems, however, wherever there is a problem, there are solutions.

4. Respond to God's call for service. Pray for the following:
- Lord, use me, show me a way that I can be used
- Employ me for your end Lord, for your glory
- May I be a vessel of honor for you, Lord
- Lord, drive me away from selfishness and worldliness

5. Be willing to preach to those who will not hear. The message God has for us to take forth into the world is not popular to the masses. Let us not be discouraged when we are rejected, it will happen much more than our message will be accepted.

Practice those 5 things regularly and you will be better prepared for service.
